Update your tolino eReader software Restart your computer Test the connection to a different computer If the above steps are unsuccessful, please reset your tolino eReader to factory settings. 7.3. I'm having problems logging in, what should I do? If you are having problems logging in on your tolino eReader, we advise you repeat the login process using your computer. If you are still unable to login, it may be that the server is undergoing maintenance and that there are some connectivity issues. If you are still unable to connect after waiting for some time, please contact the customer service team of the book store from which you purchased your tolino eReader. 7.4. I'm having problems with my WiFi connection, what can I do? There are a number of potential reasons if you are having problems connecting your tolino eReader to a WLAN. We have put together some initial help and guidance here to rule out the most common reasons for issues, so that you can try to solve your WLAN problems yourself. Please check the following: 1. Are you attempting to connect your tolino to the wrong WLAN? Check that you have selected the correct wireless network connection. Please also make sure that you have deactivated the WLAN for all computers or devices in your WLAN network security settings. Ideally, you should also test your data on another device, e.g. a smartphone. If you manage to connect your other device without issue, then there must a different reason for the problem you are experiencing. 2. Is the WiFi signal too weak or is the WiFi unstable? In large residential buildings with thick walls and without WLAN repeaters, the signal strength may be too weak or unstable to establish a WLAN connection where you are. Make sure the signal quality and availability at your location is sufficient. Try moving to a new location and moving closer to the router. 3. Are you using an outdated WLAN encryption method e.g. WPA1/2 with TKIP or WEP? To safeguard your WiFi network's security and prevent unauthorized access, there are various types of encryption that are configured on your router. Encryption protocols have evolved over time, meaning that some encryption methods are now classified as insecure or out-of-date. Our tolino eReaders only support up-to-date and entirely secure encryption methods. It is therefore no longer possible to connect to a WLAN that uses the outdated TKIP encryption method after updating to software version 11.2.2. Please check the encryption protocols of your WLAN if you cannot connect your tolino to your WLAN. Your WLAN encryption should be set to WPA1/2 CCMP(AES). 4. My WLAN network is not displayed in the drop-down list. What should I do?Sometimes, networks do not appear in the list because they are hidden. To manually add a network that you cannot see on your tolino eReader, tap "Add network" at the bottom of the drop-down list and then enter the network name, encryption method and password for the connection. 5. Does your WLAN name or password contain any umlauts or diacritics? Diacritics are letters with accents, tildes or dots, e.g. â, é, ő. Characters such as this and umlauts in WLAN names (SSID) or passwords can cause problems when establishing a connection. Depending on the type of umlaut encoding on your specific router, your tolino eReader may not able to access the WLAN. 7.5. My book store is not available, what should I do? Your book store's server may undergo maintenance once in a while and this will make it temporarily unavailable. We suggest trying again later. If the issue persists, please contact your book store's customer service department. 7.6. My tolino eReader isn't responding. How do I carry out a reset? In rare cases, the screen may freeze and your tolino eReader may no longer respond. If this happens, please perform a reset.Connect your tolino eReader to a computer or an external charger. Press and hold the power button until the words "Turn off" appears on the screen and then release the power button. Press and hold the power button until the power indicator (the LED, top right) flashes rapidly. This can take up to 30 seconds. When the power indicator light stops flashing and remains constant, release the power button. Your tolino eReader will now restart. Please note that performing a reset will delete all content stored locally on your tolino eReader and you will need to log in to your customer account once again. 7.7. What should I do if a software update doesn’t work? If you have any problems updating the software, we recommend that you reset your reader. Alternatively, you can also perform the update manually. You can find the appropriate update file here: https://mytolino.de/software-updates-tolino-ereader/ To avoid any issues, you should only manually install updates from your computer in exceptional cases. If you need to install a software update on your tolino eReader without a WiFi connection, please proceed as follows: Click the download button and save the file with the name update.zip to your desktop. Please note that the file will only be recognized as an update file by your tolino eReader with this file name. Now copy the file update.zip from your desktop or individual storage location to the ".kobo" directory of your tolino eReader.
